The main attraction of Gretna Green is of course weddings. There are around 3000 weddings a year in Gretna Green which brings not only the bride and groom but also sometimes hundreds more wedding guests to the area.
There are quite a few wedding venues in Gretna Green, the most famous being “The Old Blacksmiths Shop” which has stood in Gretna since 1712 and was one of the earliest destinations for runaway mariages. The Blacksmiths shop has also a range of shops and visitor attractions (maze and childrens play area).
The Old Blacksmiths Shop is only a 3 minute walk from Kirkcroft Guest House.
Another of Gretna Greens attractions is the Gretna Outlet Village. The Gateway has over 50 leading brand outlet stores as well as 5 cafes offering a great shopping experience.
The Guest House is on one of the Lands End to John O Groats cycle routes and receives many cyclists as guests each year. As well as being a good stop off point for people travelling to the Highlands of Scotland, it is also a good base for exploring the towns, castles and scenery of Southern Scotland and is only an hours drive from the Lake District and Hadrians Wall. With the proximity of the motorway it is only a short journey to the cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh.
